Joan Goddard has a nice and simple gem, A Cup Of Jo. Where a couple of pictures she included in a post sent us searching into the internet for the works of Alfred Eisenstaedt. The German-American photojournalist is best known for his V-J Day photograph, but we like his photos of an audience of children attending a puppet theater performance in Paris, circa 1963. The top shot is captured at the moment in the play when St. George slays the dragon.

UK artist Pete Dungey explains on his website, “If we planted one of those in every hole, it would be like a forest in the road. An ongoing series of public installations highlighting the problem of surface imperfections on Britain’s roads.

Simon Evans’ work should probably make you think about consumerism, ownership and the material world. But we just like the color and the detail. His work is currently on display at the James Cohan Gallery. More info on Evans and his exhibition here.

Tim Schwartz creates things that not only carry an aesthetic value, but actually have a (somewhat) practical purpose–at least as far as art is concerned. The above piece, entitled, Paris is not used to gauge whether something is trashy (Hilton) or classy (France)…which is what I first thought.

Keetra Dean Dixon creates some pretty crazy things and you could spend hours browsing her art to pick out a favorite. I have a favorite, and right after the The Great Slumber Blood Puddle Pillow, it is definitely her Just Between You and Me series that turns everyday objects into objects of co-dependency. Like, I’ve Got Your Back (above) and Just Keeping An Eye On You (below).

While he may not win Greenest Artist Award, Malaysian-born and California-based artist Boey makes a living selling cheap product with a powerful addition: a meticulously crafted Sharpie-sketched drawing–with steady hand–on a Styrofoam cup.
