Gary McKinnon’s enigmatic cyber-antics might have just landed me the coveted MIFG Longest Title for a Single Post Award. Refer to the judges on that one. Anyhow, this seemingly harmless forty-three year old man from Wood Green, North London is wedged nicely into this country’s current news cycle for reasons bizarre. Gary admitted to hacking 97 government computers on the hunt for “classified documents on UFOs which he claims the US government had suppressed” (BBC). Gary was on American cybersoil whilst executing his hack, meaning he must be extradited and tried in the states.

Not so fast, says Gary’s mom (mum if you’re British). The protective parent/children’s book author has recently weighed in, appealing to none other than Barack Obama for a quick fix. Side note: she drinks Guinness.
