Compelling Compendium

atlasobscura

A two-headed cow, a collection of red-haired giants, tacos agresivos and the tunnel to atlantis. These are just a few of the many strange wonders that Joshua Foer and Dylan Thuras collect. Somewhere in between winning National Memory Competitions and  traveling the globe, they find time to document the obscure and fascinating attractions the world has to offer.

Without the Atlas Obscura, how would we ever know about the 14-room house carved out of a rock in Southeastern Utah or the Centennial Lightbulb that’s been burning since 1901 in California. The categories range from Torture Chambers to Places of Worship, but the only requirement is the attractions must incite curiosity and wonder.

And the best part, anyone can post their own mystical discoveries (pending editor approval)…so go forth on your own extraordinary adventure, find great things to share with the world…then maybe you can start using big words like “compendium” too.
