Shawn Smith’s Pixel Pieces

From peacocks to marlins to a polar bear-skin rug, Austin, Texas-based Shawn Smith’s pixelated art pieces are a 21st century spin on classic wall art — perfect for hunter and hipster alike. They are created with plywood, blasa or bass wood.

He is partnering with Joseph Phillips for a show at the d. berman gallery on Guadalupe from August 26 – October 9th. We highly recommend checking it out.

I’ve seen a few articles on this online but have yet to see an explanation for what would happen if you fell down it.

Check out this one from the NY Times.

Cashmere, Georgie, Cashmere!

The top shot is captured at the moment in the play when St. George slays the dragon.

Simon Evans’ work should probably make you think about consumerism, ownership and the material world. But we just like the color and the detail. His work is currently on display at the James Cohan Gallery. More info on Evans and his exhibition here. (more)
